Ward Club Virtual Christmas Party 15th December – At home!
Because of COVID-19 our Annual Christmas Carol Service and get together at St Peter’s upon Cornhill had to be cancelled – that did not mean and we would not get together, celebrate Christmas and have some fun
27 screens and over 50 members took part in this unique event.
It opened with the first two verses of Once in Royal David’s City (Kings College Cambridge, Choir)
A short poem entitled Bah Humbug
“No Gubbins’ mince pies
No Mag’s sighs, as she slices the smoked salmon pieces
No wines from the Hughes and def no pews
and worse not even some quiches
But some carols and verses and wines of your choice
A reading or two and a quiz
Some gossip and chat and more such as that
Will start Christmas off with a FIZZ”
The evening did just that.
The Master welcomed us with a short Christmas Story, followed by everybody joining in and singing “Let it snow, let it snow let it snow”
As you will see from the program below there were various opportunities for us all to sing together!
27 screens on Zoom, all receiving a signal at slightly different times, a not to be forgotten sound, but great fun!
We had a range of traditional, interesting and amusing readings from The Master,
The Vice President
Rowland Hughes, Patricia Dinsdale and The President and 1 short presentation on turning on Christmas Lights in the City by Alderman, Sheriff Michael Mainelli
Below 2 links
First the real way it happened
The second how it was finally presented click here
N.B. This link will not work for very long is my guess
Very different. I know which one I like
Plenty of light-hearted jeering at a range of
Cracker jokes.
Noisy Charades (words allowed) was a great success and there were some “interesting” answers to our short Christmas Quiz
The evening finished with a traditional Christmas reading from Luke Ch1 v26-35 read by our President,
then
Oh come all Ye Faithful
And then musical chaos (and great fun)
The 12 days of Christmas sung by over 50 people
– with groups of around 10 in various different houses singing different lines!!!!!
A lot of noise, gusto and fun.
