Visit to the Chelsea Physic Gardens 26th June

There was meant to be a visit to the National Rose Collection, near St Albans but lack of replies from the Garden ensured that this did not take place.

58 Members and Guests took part  in this early evening visit to this special garden on the centre of London. They saw a range of plants and herbs  that have been used over centuries to cure and wide range of sickness and disease. It seems that people were less enamoured with slightly sparse Buffet and staff to serve it.

Hymn Through all the changing scenes of life

Sermon

Hymn Firmly I believe and truly
This Hymn was a very specific request from the Master with the words not in the St Peter’s Hymn Book

Firmly I believe and truly
God is Three, and God is one;
And I next acknowledge duly
Manhood taken by the Son.

And I trust and hope most fully
In that Manhood crucified;
And each thought and deed unruly
Do to death, as He has died.

Simply to his grace and wholly
Light and life and strength belong,
And I love supremely, solely,
Him the Holy, Him the Strong.

Adoration may be given,
With and through the angelic host,
To the God of earth and heaven,
Father,Son, and Holy Ghost.

Gifts donated were given to The Royal Alfred Society who run two homes for retired sailors in Banstead. 27 attended from the Ward Club.

This was also the occasion to say farewell to Revd. John Cross who was retiring and for The Revd. Richard Coombes BSc MA to be licensed by the Archdeacon of London.
