Committee Meeting 13th July – The Habit – Crutched Friars
After the Meeting a talk by Mr David Raggett – Corporation of the City of London Assistant Solicitor. A very entertaining and eloquent speaker – with responsibility for the distribution of funds from the City Bridge Trust.
The Master and 15 Members attended.
Unanimous agreement on how well the minutes of the previous Meeting had been circulated. (Well in advance).
The Main part of the Meeting was about the next batch of ties, design, material, supplier , price.
Toye Kenning or Thresher and Glenny, Polyester or Silk Satin, A design based on the Cufflink Design or a Design based on Centered Shield between two gold lines.
Alderman Brian Toye arrived in the midst of the discussions and agreed to make the chosen design at a competitive price.
“Re the possible price of £15.00p being too expensive” with all due respect I wonder how many men buy their own ties, the price seems reasonable and the discussion about the price, unreasonable.”
Agreed in the end to purchase 100 ties £12.95 in total each
Visit to the Chelsea Physic Gardens – 26th June
There was meant to be a visit to the National Rose Collection, near St Albans but lack of replies from the Garden ensured that this did not take place.
58 Members and Guests took part in this early evening visit to this special garden in the centre of London. They saw a range of plants and herbs that have been used over centuries to cure a wide range of sickness and disease. It seems that people were less enamoured with the slightly sparse Buffet and staff to serve it.

Hymn Firmly I believe and truly
This Hymn was a very specific request from the Master with the words not in the St Peter’s Hymn Book
Firmly I believe and truly
God is Three, and God is one;
And I next acknowledge duly
Manhood taken by the Son.
And I trust and hope most fully
In that Manhood crucified;
And each thought and deed unruly
Do to death, as He has died.
Simply to his grace and wholly
Light and life and strength belong,
And I love supremely, solely,
Him the Holy, Him the Strong.
Adoration may be given,
With and through the angelic host,
To the God of earth and heaven,
Father,Son, and Holy Ghost.
